Valpraraiso Cultural Park PCdV Chile.
Was conceived by the HLPS architect practice. The project was finished 2011. Valpraraiso Cultural Park was previously a prison for around a hundred years, the Cárcel 47 in Cerro Cárcel area, which was known as Prison Hill. The proposal organised the terrain to conceive a new use, open to the public, and offering facilities to promote cultural activities.
The Cultural Park comprises three spaces of different environments. The jail building, previously housing inmates, becomes recycled architecture, a new park as landscape architecture, and the incorporation of a new facade as contemporary architecture. This project had 4 awards and a nomination.
